27 March 2007: Altera Design Contest.
Engineering students in the Asia Pacific region are invited to submit their innovative design ideas to the Nios® II Embedded Processor Design Contest 2007, Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced today. The contest is designed to increase focus on embedded designs leveraging programmable logic technology and to foster the enhancement of engineering design skills. The competition is open to graduate and post-graduate engineering students attending universities in China, Taiwan, Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Eligible contestants can submit proposals as an individual or as a three-member team. Each design proposal must include an Altera® Nios®or Nios II embedded processor and focus on application areas that align with Altera’s target markets-- automotive, broadcast, consumer, wireless and wireline communications, and military. A panel of Altera experts will rate the designs on uniqueness, creativity, viability and design relevance. The three highest scoring designers or teams from each region will receive a monetary award and be invited to showcase their designs at Altera’s annual SOPC World in Asia Pacific in October.
“As an extension of our University program, the Nios Design Contest encourages innovation and gives students the opportunity to showcase their creative ideas,” said Louie Leung, marketing director, Altera Asia Pacific. “Altera remains committed to investing in the education of our future innovators."
